He has produced four CDs and is currently working on two recording projects. He has been involved with musical theater for a long time, and has been Music Director for local productions of “Anything Goes”, “Bye Bye, Birdie”, “Annie”, “Into the Woods”, and “Peter Pan” among many others. Dr. Hiestand plays piano solo, with instrumentalists, with singers, and with choirs. He spends a lot of time playing piano for Catholic churches other than St. Benedict, and frequently plays at Assumption Parish, St. Francis in Burien, and in various capacities for the Sisters of Providence. Being a lefty, he plays guitar upside down and backwards, which probably explains a lot. He feels that he is always a student, and he is learning so very much on every project and every song. It is a blessing for him to be making his living as a musician.
